Texas

Thought I would post a few pictures from my trip right quick. They're getting a little over-due. ;o) I forgot how many I took of the kids, so for now, I'll introduce you to my new nephew, Jacob. :o)

P.S. Lauren just sent me a text saying that he weighs 11 lbs, 13.5 oz, and is 13 1/2 inches long now. :o) Growing boy!
Anyways, there will be more of these to come, but I figured you would appreciate a break from the baby updates. ;o)

10 weeks...aka 1/4 way there! ;o)

Wow, look at what a difference there is in between this week and last week! Even though it's still got a little alien head, it's looking a lot more like a BABY! Yay! Oh, and look at how big it's starting to get, in proportion to the mother's body. It's not a little dot anymore! Haha. ;o)

Uterus: Your uterus has doubled by now, from the size of a pear before you got pregnant to the size of a grapefruit.

Brain: Your baby's forehead bulges with its developing brain and sits high on its head (hence the alien look). ;o)

Yolk Sac: Your baby's liver is now making blood cells; the yolk sac is no longer needed and begins to disappear.

Meet My Baby. :o)

We had our first appointment today, and everything was GREAT! Baby is measuring perfectly, at exactly 9 weeks (I'm going to start posting my updates on Tuesdays now, because that's when I go into a new week). She did an ultrasound, and we got to see our amazing little baby. Mike held my hand as the picture popped up onto the screen, and I nearly started crying. I couldn't believe it. What I was seeing on the screen, a tiny little baby, was actually inside of me. I was...amazed...to say the least. The baby was wiggling around in there. You could see it waving it's tiny little arms. So amazing. And so crazy that the baby is moving so much, but I can't feel it! Haha, it's still too tiny, but I can't wait. :o)

I could have stared at that screen for hours and hours, watching my baby move around, but it ended all too soon. I swear, it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Anyways, without further adieu, I would like you to meet my baby. :o)

I can't stop looking at this. THAT'S MY BABY. :o)

Week 9

And another week has flown by. It didn't feel like it at the time, but here I am a day past my posting day. :o) Craziness, I say.

I have been meaning to post about other things during the week, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'll work on that, because eventually, if you haven't already, you will get bored of me posting these weekly updates. So, I'll try to keep my blog alive with things other than baby progress updates. ;o)

Anyways, here's week 9 for you.

Earlobe: Your baby now has earlobes.

Eyelid: Your baby's eyelids are now fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks.

Chorionic Villi: If you have chorionic villus sampling (CVS) in the next few weeks, the doctor will draw cells from the tiny projections in the placenta called chorionic villi.

Fingers: The tips of your baby's fingers are slightly enlarged where the "touch pads" are developing.

Shoulders: Your baby can now move it's limbs; all the major joints are working, including the shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles.

So that's what's going on this week! :o) Hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July. We had a pretty good one, spent on the Chena River with friends. If I can get the pictures from people, then I'll post some soon. :o)

8 weeks Today

Wow, I can't believe it's already been a week since I posted my first update. Maybe this will go by faster than I think. ;o) I'm not tired of being pregnant. Just tired of feeling so sick all the time. I'm hoping that all that goes away in the second trimester like it's "supposed to". :o) But for now, I am on week 8, therefore still stuck in the first trimester. :o)

Here's our little alien this week. Starting to look more like a little person, but it's got an alien head. So cute. ;o)

Eyelid: Translucent eyelids practically cover your baby's eyes now.

Brain: The nerve cells in your baby's brain are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.

Hand: Your baby's hands are flexed at the wrists and meet over the heart. The fingers are still slightly webbed but growing longer.

Knee Joint: Your baby now has knees and it's feet may be long enough to meet in front of its body.

I haven't really "felt" anything different yet. I do know that I am growing to some degree though, because as of the other night, I officially need to unbutton my jeans while sitting down. Standing up I'm just fine, but sitting down is a whole different story! :o) I think it's just "the bloat" right now, but it's kinda fun. I can't wait until I really start showing, but even more than that, I can't wait to feel my baby move! That is going to be so surreal!

Well, I hope you all have had a good week!

A Baby Update :o)

Well, based on a generalized calculation of things, tomorrow I should be right at about 7 weeks. So, I figured I'd start my "baby updates". I don't know that I'm going to get to them every week... we'll see. :o) Anyways, here we go. :o)

This is what my baby looks like this week. Little tadpole. :o)

Eyelid:
Eyelid folds now partially cover your baby's eyes.

Umbilical Cord:
A loop of your baby's growing intestines is bulging into the umbilical cord.

Tailbone:
What looks like a tail is actually an extension of your baby's tailbone. It will disappear in the next few weeks.

Well, there you have it, that's what's going on this week. ;o) I do know that the baby already has a heartbeat at this point, and that by the end of this week, the baby will already be moving the little buds that will grow to start forming the arms and legs. I of course, won't be able to feel it quite yet, but can't wait! :o)

It All Started With a Box...

Well, I guess it actually started with what was inside of the box. ;o)

I am completely thrilled to announce that Mike and I are expecting our first baby in the early part of February 2010! :o)

I am currently a little over 5 weeks pregnant, and we would greatly appreciate your prayers for this pregnancy and baby, especially in this first trimester. Our first appointment is on the 7th of July, at which time I will be a little over 9 weeks, and at that time we will get to hear our baby's heartbeat. I can't even express how excited and anxious I am for that day to get here! :o)

Well, prepare yourselves for me updating regularly about how my little bean is progressing! Love to you all. :o)

P.S. "The Box" is how I told Mike about our baby. :o)
